Become a Routine Data Participant

Recruitment of active participants for The ORIGINS Project is now closed. However, families having their baby at Joondalup Health Campus can still contribute to life-changing research.

You can become a "Routine Data" participant of ORIGINS when you are pregnant or when you have your baby at Joondalup Health Campus. Routine Data participants do not attend appointments, collect their own samples or complete online questionnaires. By signing our consent form, you allow the ORIGINS team to access your data routinely collected by the hospital from the following resources:

  • Your records held at the Joondalup Health Campus:
    • this includes your weight, height, blood pressure measurements, allergies, medications prescribed, glucose tolerance test result;
  • Routinely collected biological samples (such as blood, urine);
  • Your records held at other health and allied services e.g. immunisation records, GP records, hospital admissions in WA; and
  • Data linkage to collections held by the Australian Government, such as prescription medicines dispensed by pharmacies and childhood immunisation records.

When your baby is born, you will also be asked to complete a form to consent him/her into the project to allow their routinely collected data to also be accessed. An ORIGINS team member will visit you on the ward to do this.

Find out more by downloading our Routine Data Information Brochure.

You can also complete the Expression of Interest Form here and someone will be in touch with you.

Routine Data participants also have the opportunity to join ORIGINS sub-projects if they choose and are eligible. These smaller sub-studies explore multiple aspects of child and family health and development, and offer many benefits to families.
