Professor Desiree Silva, Co-director of the ORIGINS Project
WA’s brightest researchers are at the top of their game, creating a healthier future for all of us. Three local legends who are changing the world have been named as this year’s WA Rising Stars – including the ORIGINS Project Co-director and head of paediatrics at Joondalup Health Campus, Professor Desiree Silva.
Together with co-director Professor Susan Prescott and the ORIGINS team (in conjunction with The Kids Research Institute Australia), she is building a research platform to enable world-class investigations into when and why non-communicable diseases develop.
“We absolutely hope we improve the health of this community and that we can translate some of our research internationally,” says Professor Silva.
